Track 1 - Trainer Approval Process

Training of Trainer (TOT) tracks lays out the proposed requirements for county and tribal staff with less than one year of experience training Motivational Interviewing (MI) to become eligible to provide MI training to their staff.

  • New Trainers complete Pathway 1.*
  • New Trainers complete 16 hours of TOT with a MINT member.
  • New Trainer co-facilitates MI training with a MINT member (to include supervision and feedback summaries).
  • New Trainer facilitates entire MI training under supervision of a MINT member (to include supervision and feedback summaries).
  • MINT member completes attestation of New Trainer's ability to effectively facilitate MI training.

Pathway 1 completion can be taken before, during, or after remaining steps.

Upon completion of the aforementioned requirements, new trainers will submit supporting documentation to MI Training Team.

Motivational interviewing, track two - includes documentation, skills evaluation, and approval

Track 2 - Trainer Approval Process

Training of Trainer (TOT) tracks lays out the proposed requirements for county and tribal staff with more than one year of experience training Motivational Interviewing (MI) to become eligible to provide MI training to their staff.

  • Trainer submits documentation of prior MI training (including TOT), co-facilitation, and mentoring by a MINT member for review by MNCWTA/CPT.
  • Trainer completes skills demonstration of training (video submission) or provides feedback logs.

Upon completion of the aforementioned requirements, new trainers will submit supporting documentation to MI Training Team.
