An updated version of the SSIS (Social Service Information System) Essentials course is now available for child protection workers in Minnesota. This training was created by the Minnesota Department of Human Services (DHS) SSIS Team, and is hosted by the Minnesota Child Welfare Training Academy through their Training Portal.
This updated course now includes 10 lessons (the previous course had 7 lessons). The seventh lesson was completely revised to focus on Time Recording, and the following 3 lessons were added:
- SSIS Essentials 108 – Data Clean-up
This video demonstrates how to access and use the Data Clean-up function in an intake or case management workgroup. - SSIS Essentials 109 – Reminders
In this video, viewers will learn the steps to access the Reminders and Alerts Log, the types of Reminders in SSIS, and the process for creating and removing them from the log. - SSIS Essentials 110 – Alerts
In this final video installment of the SSIS Essentials series, viewers will learn about Alerts, how to access them in the Reminders and Alerts log, how to address them and the method by which they’re removed from SSIS.
Revised Course Description for SSIS Essentials (CWTA X404)
SSIS Essentials is a collection of ten lessons designed to provide caseworkers with an introduction to basic navigation and functionality of core SSIS functions. Learning is self-paced and experiential. This course takes approximately 5 hours to complete. While not required, we strongly suggest that all new workers complete this course. This is the same SSIS Essentials found in TrainLink, but will be reflected in your Training Portal training record. 5.0 CEUs
Child protection workers can find this updated course in the Academy’s Training Catalog, and will need to log in using their Training Portal Profile.
An additional SSIS resource available through the Training Academy is called SSIS Basics for Child Protection Workers. This training module includes videos from previous SSIS trainings, does not require login, and can be a good refresher for workers.
