Please join us for the Twin Cities Metro Learning Center Grand Opening! The Minnesota Child Welfare Training Academy (MNCWTA) is hosting this event on Thursday, September 22 from 9:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.


  • 8:30 a.m.: Coffee and light breakfast
  • 9:00 a.m.: Welcome and brief program with comments by DHS Assistant Commissioner Tikki Brown, U of M College of Education and Human Development Dean Michael Rodriguez, Center for Advanced Studies in Child Welfare Executive Director Traci LaLiberte, and DHS Child Safety and Permanency Director Jamie Sorenson
  • 9:30 a.m.: Tours of the facility begin (every 15 minutes) - Public Artist Dani Bianchini, who created several mosaics onsite, will be available on several tours to answer questions and talk about her work
  • 10:00 a.m.: Mock Simulation (again at 11:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. - masks required)
  • 10:30 a.m.: Training Demonstration (again at 11:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m.) - Balsam Room
  • 12:00-3:00 p.m.: Ice Cream from the U of M Department of Food Science and Nutrition
  • 12:30-1:30 p.m.: Goldy Gopher
