October 5th, 2026 Website and Email Addresses are Changing to .org
2 min read
To better reflect our not-for-profit mission in supporting county and tribal agency child welfare teams across Minnesota, the Minnesota Child Welfare Training Academy is updating our primary web and email domain from mnchildwelfaretraining.com to mnchildwelfaretraining.org beginning on Tuesday, October 13. Both options will continue to be accessible, but it may be helpful to update any pages you have bookmarked.
Training Portal Users
For those of you with Training Portal Profiles, you may encounter a technical issue when logging in using the mnchildwelfaretraining.org website for the first time. If you get a page that says BAD REQUEST, just follow these steps:
- Open this URL in a new browser: https://apps.lib.umn.edu/cookiecutter/
- Select the green button that says "Delete these cookies"
- Return to your portal page under the .org site and try again
If this does not resolve the issue, please submit a ticket on our Contact Us page.
Academy Email Accounts
Our email accounts are also changing to:
- info@mnchildwelfaretraining.org
- mitraining@mnchildwelfaretraining.org
- idi@mnchildwelfaretraining.org
- advisorynetwork@mnchildwelfaretraining.org
We encourage our learners and community partners to add our emails to their safe senders lists, address books, or email client contacts to ensure that our messages go straight to your inbox. During the first few weeks after our domain switch, please periodically check your Spam, Junk, or Quarantine folders. If you find an email from our new .org domain, select Mark as Not Junk or Never Block Sender's Domain.
If possible, please ask your internal IT department to add the website mnchildwelfaretraining.org to their allowlist, as well as emails coming from that domain.
Reason for Change
This change is designed to better reflect our public service mission in supporting county and tribal agency child welfare teams across Minnesota. Additionally, county government IT networks and sovereign Tribal Nation IT departments maintain stringent firewall rules, spam filters, and strict security protocols to safeguard sensitive administrative data. Automated security filters often flag incoming emails from commercial .com domains—especially those containing links to training portals, attachments, or system updates—as potential promotional or third-party vendor noise.
As a collaboration between the Minnesota Department of Children, Youth, and Families (a .gov organization) and the Multidisciplinary Institute for Child Welfare at the University of Minnesota Twin Cities (a .edu organization), the Training Academy initially launched using a .com URL. After feedback and conversation with our learners and partners, this move to a .org extension will hopefully reduce any communication barriers.
