MNCWTA Annual Report: July 2023 - June 2024 (PDF)
Between July 2023 and June 2024, the Minnesota Child Welfare Training Academy (MNCWTA) launched several significant initiatives, hosted numerous opportunities for stakeholder engagement, and continued the long term development of necessary training programs for the Minnesota child welfare system. This time period marks the fifth year of collaboration between the University of Minnesota Center for Advanced Studies in Child Welfare (CASCW) and the Child Safety and Permanency (CSP) Division at the Minnesota Department of Human Services (DHS).

As of June 2023, the Minnesota Child Welfare Training Academy (MNCWTA) has completed the fourth year of our implementation plan. This partnership between the Minnesota Department of Human Services (DHS) and the Center for Advanced Studies in Child Welfare (CASCW) at the University of Minnesota has made significant changes and improvements to child welfare training for Minnesota child welfare professionals.

In May 2019, the Minnesota Legislature authorized funding to develop and implement a statewide training academy under a newly formed StateUniversity partnership beginning in July 2019. The Minnesota Department of Human Services (DHS) and the Regents of the University of Minnesota, on behalf of the Center for Advanced Studies in Child Welfare, entered into a Joint Powers Agreement and officially began working together in September 2019 to launch the Minnesota Child Welfare Training Academy (MNCWTA).
