I've been developing curriculum for over 5 years.

Chad Ortiz

Tell us about your education and/or work experience prior to joining the MNCWTA.
I have worn many hats in my time. I've been a high school Spanish teacher, a child welfare worker in Oklahoma, college admissions specialist, academic advisor, and I've been in high school and adult education for over 10 years.

What do you enjoy most about your work?
I enjoy education and believe that anyone can learn anything given the proper support, tools and safe environment. I enjoy working with different teams, and getting to know people. You meet so many people in the field of education and much of what we do reaches so many people.

What are you most passionate about professionally?
Teaching, and developing content to teach or for others to teach. Sometimes curriculum development can be helping teachers by writing facilitator guides, or by piloting a program for them to show them a way it can be taught.

What are you most passionate about personally?
My family, learning and exploring. With my family is where I choose to spend most of my time, and you never know who you're going to meet in life and what you can learn from them.

What are you surprisingly good at?
I've been told I'm good at teaching, but that's for others to decide, not me. I'm good at remembering faces. I may forget names, but I never forget a face. If you've ever been to a class I've taught, I will remember where you sat and usually something about you if we had the time to connect.

What do you like to do outside of work?
I like to spend time with my wife and kids, walk, explore, and play tennis.

What else should we know about you?
I ask a lot of questions to get to know people because I want to learn about them, so if you ever meet me, don't be surprised if I ask a lot of questions to get to know you.
