The Training Academy is excited to announce that the much anticipated training for the Minnesota African American Family Preservation and Child Welfare Disproportionality Act (MAAFPCWDA) has launched. This course highlights the connection between historical inequities, current system disparities, and the responsibilities of child welfare professionals under the Act, and is required of all Minnesota county agency child protection workers and supervisors.

Participants will learn strategies for culturally responsive engagement, active efforts, and equitable decision‑making. The training also supports workforce readiness by helping staff identify beliefs, emotions, and needs that influence their experience of change and their ability to implement new expectations effectively.
